Ben’s Wine & Tapas

Ben’s Wine & Tapas is a truly unique dining experience. Inspired by traditional tapas bars on the continent, you can expect a warm welcome, a relaxed, sociable evening and some of the finest food and wine available. Our menu boasts a wealth of ‘small plates’ that draw on influences from cuisines all over the world. Made from local, seasonal ingredients that are predominantly organic our tapas dishes are perfect for sharing and are even better with a glass or two of wine. We source directly from independent growers, specialising in mid-priced, moreish varieties that have been produced sustainably. We cater for a range of dietary requirements, offering vegan and gluten free menus alongside our meat and fish tapas. Don’t have time to dine in? No problem, just pop in and pick up a bottle of your favourite wine and some takeaway tapas to go instead. We’re open from 10 am, Monday to Saturday so early birds can take five and watch the world go by with a steaming cup of coffee and a cake from our tempting selection, all of which are handmade in our farm kitchen, just up the road in Staverton.

Delphini’s Gelato

We are now CLOSED FOR WINTER, due to re-open on or about the 1st of April 2021. Delphini’s means fresh, homemade gelato and hot chocolates of the finest quality - also for vegans! Italian-trained owner Johan (Giovanni for regulars) makes everything daily on-site, using organic Devon milk and cream, seasonal fresh fruits, Belgian chocolate, Sicilian pistachios, Piedmont hazelnuts, Amarena cherries - and not much more. Garden Cafe at Totnes Rare Breeds Farm

Just a 15 minute walk from Totnes town centre is the scenic Garden Cafe at Totnes Rare Breeds, perfect for those looking for a short riverside walk followed by a delicious refreshment. Located next to South Devon Railway, it can also be combined with a trip on an historic steam train to Buckfastleigh. Offering made-to-order dishes at reasonable prices, the Garden Cafe has earned a reputation in its own right as a destination for good food, where local produce is used wherever possible. A range of coffees, teas and cakes will fuel you through the morning, while sandwiches, paninis, salads and platters provide a tempting lunch for everyone, and younger visitors will enjoy our children’s lunch-boxes. If the weather is unfavourable, order a steaming bowl of soup. If sunny, what better way to spend an afternoon than indulging in a Devon cream tea and watching the world go by? Watch the steam trains, admire the views of the beautiful countryside and be transported back to the good old days when life was a little less hectic. *Please note: No need to visit the farm to use the cafe. Roly’s Fudge Pantry

For over 20 years, Roly’s Fudge Totnes has been making handmade fudge every single day in the heart of the Totnes community. We make fudge from an old family recipe passed down by the founder’s grandmother over generations. The result is a crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth fudge, made using the highest quality of carefully sourced ingredients. Pop by for a chat with our friendly fudge makers and try a taste for yourself. We now have dairy-free fudge flavours accredited by the Vegan Society.

Bayards Kitchen

A family restaurant based in Dartington, they bring lots of ideas from the award-winning Bayards Cove Inn in Dartmouth which they have been successfully running for four years.

They offer great food and drinks in an informal but contemporary environment with a focus on local produce.  Open for breakfast, lunch, cakes and with a dedicated children’s area, Bayards Kitchen is a great place for all the family to enjoy.

Bay Horse Inn

Our traditional real ale pub at the top of town is just a short stroll to the historic centre. With a welcoming interior and fabulous garden, the pub has 3 en-suite rooms, the spacious Coach House Suite features a luxurious bathroom, garden outlook and easily converts to a family share. We offer superb real ale, lager, wine and cider, complemented by locally sourced daytime food. Regular music nights feature jazz and folk, as well as an Open Mic each Thursday. Owner Kathy, a qualified guide, runs regular town walks from April to October or takes private bookings year round. Room-only and B&B rates available.

The Cott Inn

The Cott Inn is a stunning 14th-century thatched pub situated in the peaceful village of Dartington, less than 2 miles from Totnes and surrounded by beautiful countryside. This family owned inn serves award winning food and local ales and ciders, and offers overnight accommodation in luxury boutique bedrooms.

Come and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with cosy log fires during the winter months and a large pretty garden with a new alfresco kitchen serving delicious food throughout the summer. Weekly events include the famous fish and chip night on Tuesday evenings serving fresh locally line-caught fish, fabulous Sunday roasts  and live music every Wednesday and Sunday night.  Dogs and children welcome.
