August 2021 update: Please be polite and aware of staff and fellow customers;  we would ask that no-one stands at the bar other than when ordering. From Thursday 29th July, we will be open Tuesday - Sunday from 3.30pm, but, like everyone else, we are short-staffed so bear with us! We look forward to seeing you. Kathy, Rob & the Team

Our traditional real ale pub at the top of town is just a short stroll to the historic centre. With a welcoming interior and fabulous garden, the pub has 3 en-suite rooms, the spacious Coach House Suite features a luxurious bathroom, garden outlook and easily converts to a family share. We offer superb real ale, lager, wine and cider, complemented by locally sourced daytime food. Regular music nights feature jazz and folk, as well as an Open Mic each Thursday. Owner Kathy, a qualified guide, runs regular town walks from April to October or takes private bookings year round. Room-only and B&B rates available.
