Overview

The Shops at Dartington, set within the grounds of the Dartington Estate, is rich with history and remains as popular now as it has ever been. With a selection of 15 shops and restaurants, there’s good reason why this one-stop shopping village has been a much-loved family destination for over four decades.

Here, you’ll find a vibrant food hall dedicated to regional food and drink, a kitchen shop for the latest gadgets, inspiring objets d’art crafts to include a wool shop, Dartington handmade crystal and glassware, a gallery, fashion beauty gallery, a treasure trove of toys and games, and two tempting cafes spilling out onto the pedestrianised pavement and garden.

The Devon Gin School located in the Food Shop, not only makes Elmhirst Gin for The Shops at Dartington, but also offers bookable sessions to make your own bespoke bottle of gin See website for details.

Book a pottery class for a hands-on experience or check out the calendar of family events. With plenty of parking available, there is something for everyone.

While you’re here, the Dartington Estate is a lively day-out for kids and adults alike with beautiful gardens, the historic Deer Park, an all-natural wild play area, a range of bookable workshops, not to mention picturesque walks across the estate.

These include Michael Honnor, Lucianne Lassalle, Thorie Hinds, James Stewart, Rosie Sanders and Sarah Gillespie. Most works are available to purchase under the arts council supported OWNart scheme – interest-free over 10 months. Open TUESDAY – SATURDAY 10-4 and Mondays by appointment, this little gallery is well worth a visit.
