Overview

Originally conceived over 35 years ago, when Ben himself sold his homemade sausages at Totnes Market, Ben’s Farm Shops focus on providing ‘good food from good farming’. In practical terms, that means that the produce we sell in our shops and the food we serve in our cafés is sourced directly from the producers/growers, is as local as possible, often organic and always just plain delicious. We stock a range of store cupboard essentials, meat from our butchery, a selection of fruit and veg, dairy products, wines, beers and much more. What better excuse do you need to step away from the supermarket trolley and shop local!

the bowie gallery

Situated in the High street, a stone’s throw from the market place, you will find paintings, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery, mostly from artists who have a strong connection with the South West, as well as often national and international profiles. These include Michael Honnor, Lucianne Lassalle, James Stewart, Rosie Sanders, Emily Powell and Jane Clatworthy. The gallery also shows a collection of chairs, under the banner arseart! www.arseart.com. Most works are available to purchase under the arts council supported OWNart scheme – interest-free over 10 months.

Crystals

Our shop fits well into this lively community, and we take pride in reflecting the outstanding natural beauty of each piece of crystal and jewellery in all of our artistic and creative displays. Members of the Totnes team have been working for the company for over 8 years, gathering with that experience a wealth of knowledge regarding the metaphysical, geological, and methods of care for both your jewellery and gemstones.

Town Market

The independent shops and markets in Totnes are pivotal to the town and have a reputation as some of the best and most unusual in Devon. The general market takes place on Friday and Saturday and is held on the Market Square, just off High Street in the centre of town. Here you can buy anything from clothes to jewellery, fresh ingredients and plants. One of the best places to try the delicious delights of what Totnes and the surrounding area has to offer is at the Totnes Sunday Food Market. Held on the 3rd Sunday of each month, discover a wide range of quality produce from dozens of local producers.
