Family Forage Days at Sharpham Estate

Come and enjoy the wild abundance of the Sharpham Estate with your children. We will discover what the season has to offer and pick some wild plants to take back to our sheltered outdoor kitchen for a fun cook up. We’ll talk about which ones we can eat and will take the ones we need back to the woodland kitchen for a cook-up and simple wild food lunch. We will learn a little about fire and get the woodland fire lit where we can then relax in the warmth with herby bread and a warm drink and final questions. This day is for you if you are: adults and children of any age and experience who are looking to discover more about wild edible plants. interested in learning more about the natural world a beginner to foraging a fan of the Great Outdoors looking for a fascinating, family day out What should you bring? Snack - our lunch will be a late one and the foraging walk is a long one, so bring a healthy snack if you get peckish along the way Hat and warm clothes Waterproofs Good comfy shoes or wellies Paper and pen if you want to take notes Camera if you want to take pictures Bottle of water A basket for foraging, if you have one This event runs from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, costs £5 per person and includes lunch. Faeland in Concert

Uplifting acoustic-folk-pop with a touch of the mystical. Albums of the Year 2018: Folk Radio UK; Sam Bonham (BBC Introducing); Shire Folk Magazine. Faeland’s original songs are beautiful, enchanting, uplifting, technically impressive and extremely accessible. The band have audiences singing along and being moved instantaneously, regardless of whether or not you have heard their music before; There is something in the words and melodies which goes deeper than the everyday, touching on the mystical and the unspoken. In Totnes the songs will be performed on acoustic guitars, accordion, banjo, charango, violins, lush vocals and Celtic harp.
Faeland are a folk-pop band from Stroud & Bristol, UK. In 2018 Faeland founders Rebecca & Jacob took a professional leap of faith and released their debut album ‘All My Swim’. The album quickly gained support and acclaim from BBC 6Music, Uncut Magazine, Shire Folk Magazine, BBC Introducing and a host of others; acclaim of which is almost unheard of for a band’s debut release. The first 2 singles earned radio play and praise from Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe (BBC 6 Music), BBC Introducing and BBC Scotland, among many others. Faeland’s music is a beautiful selection of original, modern folk compositions influenced by music from both sides of the  Atlantic. Their songs give the duo’s personal spin on classic themes of humanity, such as love, healing, and magic.
