Totnes Indoor Artisan Market May

Where: Totnes Civic Hall (above the Civic Square) When: Second Tuesday of the every month April-November. 9.30am - 3.30pm What to expect: Over 20 local makers, including jewellery, knitted toys, handmade chocolate, clothes and textiles, cards and prints, mosaic art, and dried flowers. Vineyard Safari May

Our most in-depth tour offers a full insight into our winemaking processes, from vine to wine. Over two hours, we'll transport you up to our beautiful vineyards before walking through the vines, then return to the winery to see the winemaking journey from grape to glass! You'll try four wines en route, and finish the experience with some local cheese and charcuterie back at the tasting room. We've released safari dates:  26th May | 21st + 28th July | 11th + 18th August to book online now!

Dartington Trust & Byline Festival 2024

Dartington Trust and Byline Times Festival is a weekend of ideas, food, dancing and thinking about how we can change the world for the better. Following the successful festival at Dartington Hall last summer, the Byline and Dartington Festival is returning this summer 5-7 July. With the same mix of comedy, discussions about the big issues of the day, a literary programme, documentaries and music with the opportunity to enjoy the best drink and food in beautiful surroundings This year’s theme will be ‘Democracy in Danger' as half of the world’s population will be facing elections in 2024 including us here in Britain and also in America. The Amazing Adventures of Brutus

Dartington Morris present a day of dance, music and theatre based on the legend of Brutus in Totnes. We invite members of the public to join us for the day, following our progress through the town or just dipping into various events of the day. There is no charge for this event, although the Morris will take up a non-compulsory collection as is traditional. Provisional Schedule for the day: 10.30 am             -              Introduction of the Story and dancing at the Plains 11.15 am             -              Processing with music and dance up the High Street to the Brutus Stone 11.30 am             -              Explanation of the significance of the Brutus Stone to include quote ‘Here I stand and here I rest and this good town shall be called Totnes’ + Shouting out of Latin hail to Totnes + three cheers. 11.45 am             -              Continue processing to the Church where morris dancing and the Brutus Mummers Play will be performed, singing of the Brutus Song and the presentation of the Coats of Arms to the Mayor.  Finish with shouting out Latin hail to Totnes + three cheers. 1.00 pm                -              Retire to the king Billy for lunch, music and song. 2.30 pm                -              Dancing at the Church. 3.15 pm                -              Dancing at the Town Hall 4.00pm                 -             Dancing at Rotherfold Square

The Totnes Show is over 100 years old and is one of the biggest one day agricultural shows in the county! After a successful 2022 Totnes Show we look forward to welcoming you for another fun filled family day out at the 2023 Show. Sunday 28th July 2024: Gates open 9am

ChoralFest 2024

This year marks a different format for Dartington’s famous Music Summer School. ChoralFest 2024, led by course director Gavin Carr, known for his work with the Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony and Bath-Minerva Choirs, amongst others, will focus on Rachmaninov’s sublime 1915 All-Night Vigil (Vespers), culminating in a public performance on Saturday evening. Conductor Carr will be joined by celebrated international tutors and pianists including mezzo-sopranos Sarah Pring (Professor at Guildhall, coach on Sky Arts/ENO’s Anyone Can Sing) and Victoria Simmonds (Holland Park Opera); tenors Daniel Norman (ENO) and Andrew Rees (London Concert Choir, Grange Park Opera); and bass James Platt (Royal Opera, Welsh National Opera). The teaching team will give late-night recitals throughout the course. In addition to the full week’s rehearsals for this major work, participants will be able to take part in lessons to improve sight-reading, smaller consort singing groups, solo masterclasses and one-to-one voice lessons, as well as morning yoga and mindfulness classes to sustain them through a packed week of music making. Thursday evening will give students a chance to let their hair down and perform their party pieces in an informal Cabaret.
