On the Fringe – craft event

A one day craft event for local makers. Situated in the heart of Bovey Tracey in the Methodist Hall, this is an exciting show case of the Granite elements collective of artist and makers. Hosted at the same time as annual Craft Festival, Bovey Tracey truly is the epicentre of quality UK makers and designers at this time of year. We look forward to seeing you at our fringe event. Wild Dart Swim and Aquathlon

Last year, we changed the format, so that swimmers could swim with the tide for the 5k, the whole way, getting out at Ashprington Point Field. As with previous years, you can enter the 2.5k or 5k swim, as well as a 7k, 10k and 15k aquathlon. The 5k swim covers a #GoWithTheFlow, one way only swim from Totnes to Ashprington Point Field, starting near the Dart-Totnes Rowing Club on Steamer Quay. The 2.5k swimmers start at the same place in separate waves (according to your predicted finishing time) but exit at Sharpham. Aquathloners will also exit at Sharpham, then move to a nearby transition area, before running the three miles back to the rowing club, following the cycle path above the Dart. Swimming alongside the tow path and the reed beds, which line the Sharpham side of the river and the rolling hills on the left, which wind along towards Stoke Gabriel. You will take your first snake bend here, as the river takes a turn towards Sharpham. You will know you’re approaching the Sharpham North Quay when you pass our event buoy and will soon after, catch sight of the small pontoon on your right, which is the 2.5k finish. The 7k Aquathlon includes: The 2.5k swim The hilly 4.5k run Through the picturesque vineyards at Sharpham and along the cycle track from Sharpham House to Moat Hill, turning left at The Steam Packet before crossing the bridge to Bridgetown and turning right in to Steamer Quay and the rowing club. The 10k aquathlon includes: The 5k swim to Ashprington Point and A 5k run run along the cycle track from Sharpham House to Moat Hill, turning left at The Steam Packet before crossing the bridge to Bridgetown and turning right in to Steamer Quay and the rowing club. All 5K swimmers will need to bring a drop back for the finish where changing cubicles will be erected in the finish field. You will have to walk the 2Km back to Ashprington, as there is no vehicular access to Ashprington Point Field. The 15k aquathlon takes runners up the hill from Sharpham House and down the road through Ashprington towards Bow Bridge before runners follow the Harbourne River to Beanleigh cross and back to Sharpham and then Totnes via the bicycle tracks.

Devon County Show

There’s only one place in Devon where on just three days of the year the county is revealed in all its glory! We’re looking forward to treating our visitors to the best of food, farming and entertainment all in one day. The Devon County Agricultural Association is delighted to announce that the 2022 Devon County Show will take place on Thursday 30th June, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July. The event traditionally runs during the third week of May, but along with other shows was cancelled in 2020 . In 2021, the Show was delayed to July and was one of the few three-day agricultural shows to go ahead. As a Covid Safe outdoor event, the organisers were delighted at the confidence of the general public and welcomed over 60,000 visitors across the three days. After much consultation, discussion and reviewing of the likely impact of Covid-19 during the winter and spring, the Council of the DCAA have agreed to schedule the Show at the start of July for a further year to mitigate any further risk posed by the Pandemic. It is anticipated that the Show will return to its usual May dates in 2023. Show Manager, Sam Mackenzie-Green said: ‘By taking an early decision now rather than next spring we hope this will give our exhibitors and trade stands time to prepare and we look forward to welcoming them to 126th Devon County Show in 2022’.

About this event Ever fancied giving Rock Climbing a go, or flying across a 500ft zip line? Or maybe you are a well versed adventurer looking for like minded companions to share the adventure with? Whatever you're skill level or experience, this event is for you! Create your own timetable, choosing from a wide variety of outdoor, fitness and environmental activities including Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Caving and Bush craft. Every activity is designed to offer personal challenge whilst igniting adventure! Choose from a variety of tickets to suit your personal needs. Fancy taking part in 2 of our activities and spending the rest of the weekend exploring South Devon? Our half day activity ticket and separate camping ticket would be the one for you! Or sign up for our weekend ticket if you are ready for an action packed weekend full of adventure, with 2 or 3 nights camping included! Our basecamp will be at Dartington's Campsite where our network of women will unite. The event will start at 4pm on Friday 1st July and draw to a close at 8:30pm on Sunday evening. Struggling to find childcare for that weekend? That's not a problem! Dynamic are a family run business and we understand that finding time for ourselves can be difficult. Therefore we have 30 childcare spaces on offer (first come, first served,) to allow your children to also enjoy the adventure. English Riviera Triathlon

The English Riviera Triathlon starts with a great sea swim in the warm waters of Goodrington Sands. Then it’s onto the bikes for a challenging loop around the Torbay area and finally a stunning out and back off-road coast run over towards Brixham. Everyone loved the NEW single loop Standard bike course in 2021. Be warned it’s a tough course. The first sections of the bike courses are rolling but eventually you hit Parliament Hill which averages 11 percent and another climb before the super-fast descent towards the finish. The run course is also tough with some steep hills & steps to contend with. There are also swim only and swim/run options. Prices from £29 (Go Tri). Dartmouth Tunes on the Sands 2022

 We are very pleased to announce the new dates for Tunes on the Sands will be 8th, 9th, 10th July 2022.
A festival, set on the beautiful golden Blackpool Sands in Devon, just 5 miles from Dartmouth. With a backdrop of scenic forests and hills, this will be a truly unique event where you can enjoy an ice-cold beverage with the ocean only a stone’s throw away.

Ways With Words Festival

Dartington Hall in Devon is where Ways With Words began and 2022 will be our 30th festival here. Ways With Words at Dartington is a special event. The surroundings are beautiful, and arguably at their best in the peak of summer (assuming the weather isn’t too British). Each year over one hundred events are held in either the medieval Great Hall or the more intimate Barn Theatre. You’ll find workshops and more specialist talks in smaller venues on-site too. A burst of activity follows each event as festival-goers gather in the courtyard to buy books, meet authors, chat with friends over freshly made coffee and relax in a deck chair. Or you may prefer to explore the Dartington gardens and wider estate. Accommodation You can build your own festival experience, and there are a variety of options depending on your budget. Dartington Hall offers hotel accommodation in the East and West Wing of the courtyard where the festival happens. There are simpler single rooms in Higher Close just a two-minute walk away from the festival venues, as well as camping options in the estate. Totnes, a bustling market town, is three miles from the estate offering hotels, B&Bs, self-catering accommodation and AirBnB.

Dartington’s Music Summer School & Festival 2022

Established over 70 years ago, the historic Summer School has grown an international reputation as a meeting place for musicians and listeners who come together to learn and play in a welcoming environment, against the stunning backdrop of the Dartington Estate. The Summer School & Festival will take place over four weeks, from 23 July – 20 August 2022, with a mix of week-long courses, individual workshops and concerts. There is something for everyone, with classes for complete beginners, amateurs of all levels, and advanced programmes for bursary-assisted postgraduate students.  For more information about our  extensive programme of family-friendly events offered as part of the Festival concert programme, please see our website here.

Anran Fest 2022

Anran Fest is back!

We’ve been overwhelmed by the amazing response to our first mini music and food festival held at the farm last year. We learned a lot and appreciate all the constructive feedback from those who attended.

This year's line up includes:

Julian Lloyd Webber at the lakeside for a talk and recital with the famous cellist, Jiaxin Lloyd Webber and pianist, Di Xiao. Julian will share highlights about his illustrious career as a cellist, broadcaster and educator. He will also host a supper club. Rowcroft Hospice will be the main charity for this event.

Watch the sun go down by the lakeside as Torbay Symphony Orchestra performs Mozart piano concerto and Beethoven Symphony no. 7 with a piano recital from pianist Di Xiao.

Tribute Bands: Groove with ABBA, Queen and Shirley Bassey tribute bands in a fun evening of eating, drinking and dancing in THE COW SHED.

Head to THE COW SHED for foot-tapping Gypsy and Swing Jazz to Salsa and Samba and chill out with some fantastic pub bands in THE HAY BARN. The Asian Street Food will again be a big part of the event. It has been reinvented as a Singapore-style Satay Club, featuring some of the best BBQs from around Southeast Asia. Whet your appetite with Thai street fare, Vietnamese bahn mi sandwiches, Korean burrito-style gimbap and ‘Taste of Singapore and Malaysia’ set lunches and dinners. There will be wine tastings, cooking and cocktail demos. There will be a dedicated Children and Family Day, with everyone invited to bring their four-legged friends to the lake for fun and games. Kids can take part in art and craft activities organised by Skylarks and Woodpeckers. War veterans at the Doggie Day event in collaboration with The Labrador Rescue Trust will be bringing supporters from around the country. We are especially grateful for those who have generously supported our two adopted charities with their time and donations. This year, we are extending our support to charities who help children and young people in need. This will include Children With Cancer UK and Children’s Hospice South West, which provide support for terminally ill children, as well as Veterans with Dogs, a war veterans charity that provides mental health support for service personnel who have returned from Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of us struggle with mental health challenges in these difficult times. We want to shine the spotlight on this at ANRAN Fest. Whatever we can do to better understand and raise awareness of the issues, the more we can begin to fix them.
