“Everything that is great about British cooking, growing, harvesting, catching, eating, and drinking is represented here for the four wonderful days of the Dartmouth Food festival every October. It is a festival that is loved by locals and visitors alike and is now a landmark event in the culinary calendar. It is a party atmosphere from start to finish and is held on the banks of the beautiful River Dart which was voted the second most desirable coastal location in the UK in a recent national poll.
I absolutely love it and love being part of it.”

With the dark nights drawing in and still being in uncertain times there is going to be an illuminated, magical, whole-town walking trail, to be explored and enjoyed this Halloween organised by Totnes Carnival Committee.
WHAT IS WINDOW WANDERLAND?Window Wanderland is an uplifting, family-friendly event, where residents, businesses, groups and schools can create a display for their window, door or garden forming an illuminated walking trail. These individual windows across the town will transform our streets into dazzling galleries and the beauty of Totnes’s unique community spirit will be showcased and ablaze for all to see.
WHEN IS IT?
Due to the success of our first event in 2020 and things still being a little uncertain Totnes Carnival's second Window Wanderland will be brightening the evenings of Saturday 30th October and Sunday 31st October between the hours of 6pm – 9pm.
Or you can put your displays up in the run up to the 31st.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
It’s really easy to do. You can take part by either making a display or simply by coming out on the trail and seeing Totnes in a whole new light.
No matter how small or large your street facing window, door or garden, let’s brighten up TOTNES with this unique and wonderful feel-good festival. Anyone can take part, regardless of age and almost anything can count as a display: from a string of fairy lights to a band playing in your front room. As long as it's family friendly, anything goes! No fancy lights needed, just a normal room light or lamp will bring your display to life. The theme is Halloween so let your creative juices shine.
Let’s set Totnes alight together. We’ve all had such a bizarre few months and the carnival had to be cancelled again this year so we thought this is a way to bring our community together again and bring light to the darkness in these times. No matter what is happening in the world, Wanderlands are self-contained and Covid-safe.
Window Wanderland is a free event and everyone in Totnes is welcome to be part of the trail.
You can make a display in the window of your home, business, school, nursery, shop, car, campervan, boat, pub, front door or even your garden.
Your display can be as simple as a string of lights, an open book with a lamp, tissue and card silhouettes or you can totally push the limits and create an installation piece, live performance or living art. Set your imagination alight. See window ideas here:
All the displays are put on to a map for people to follow and local businesses, residents, groups and schools are encouraged to get involved. Once you’ve decided to take part, then simply register your display and this will create a map for the trail on Saturday 30th October from 6-9 pm.

So much to see, do and buy at this year’s show, including felting, crochet, knitting, spinning and dyeing workshops, lots of lovely exhibitors selling everything you need for your yarn and fibre crafts, fleece sale and café. We are in our new venue too at Newton Abbot racecourse; plenty of space and all on one site with ample free parking.
Stitch Fest launched in November 2016 in Totnes Civic Hall with a hugely successful festival that drew people from all over the UK. Its second, third and fourth years were even better with a fabulous new venue in the Grove School and more classes.
Stitch Fest 2020 would have been our fifth show and was expected to see another exciting growth step with the show moving to the fantastic venue at Newton Abbot Racecourse where it was to be all under one roof and as ever, showcasing some of the best independent makers, dyers, spinners and designers in the UK yarn industry along with fabulous workshop and demonstration timetables.
Come and join us for a fun weekend of workshops, talks and yarn-related happiness - and stock up on some really gorgeous yarns, fibre and accessories to take home! BOOK TICKETS HERE

The Christmas Train of Lights is now the must-see event in the South West festive calendar and of course the 2021 show will capture the magic of our previous shows - and then some!!
After being unable to operate in 2020 we are raring to go for 2021 when we plan to be even bigger and better! Don't forget, the show can only be viewed from the train as you travel the line from Paignton to Kingswear (and we have a surprise or two up our sleeves for 2021!).
Your festive illuminated journey starts at Queen's Park Station, Paignton, where our train with vintage carriages await you - decorated with thousands of lights, both inside and out (check out our gallery). Fifteen minutes later, once you've had time to settle back into your seat, you will arrive at Churston Station where the show begins. As the anticipation builds and minutes after leaving Churston, you will be propelled through the 450-metre Greenway tunnel that leads you to the enchanted forest which will be transformed by a multitude of lights with brand new feature displays plus some old favourites! The stunning show ends as you leave the forest only to be greeted by the twinkling lights of Dartmouth reflected on the river Dart. After a turnaround at Kingswear and with the opportunity to disembark and take photographs from the platform, you will be on your way back to Paignton to experience the spectacle from a different direction.
This is a fully ticketed event with allocated seating so pre-booking is essential
