Vision: The Imagined Testimony of Hildegard von Bingen

This exciting multimedia experience of light, song, music and storytelling is an atmospheric candlelit show with an imagined narrative by the extraordinary Hildegard of Bingen (1098 – 1179) as she looks back at her life, alongside performance of her mesmeric chant. The show gives an insight into the painful visionary experiences Hildegard suffered throughout her life, covering some of the core emotional moments in her life as Hildegard lies on her deathbed, revisiting meaningful episodes from her past, including the moment when she was taken from her family at the age of 8 and when she made the decision at the age of 42 to finally talk about and write down her visions.

The Telling features Clare Norburn (soprano/director), Ariane Prussner (mezzo soprano), Leah Stuttard (harp) plus an actress to be confirmed. Lighting design is by Natalie Rowland and Pitch Black Lighting.

Saturday 23rd March at St Mary’s Church from 7.30 pm.

River Dart 10K Swim

The Dart 10k was the first, and is arguably the finest, 10k swim on the open water calendar and 2019 is its tenth year. It has grown from 200 swimmers to 1600. The course of the Dart 10K is a unique journey punctuated by landmarks such as the Cormorant Tree, the white rock, Sharpham boat house and Bow Creek. It’s supported by volunteers from the local and swimming community who make it special. It’s not a race – we have some fantastic and some very fast swimmers, we have skin swimmers, disabled swimmers, newbies, butterfly swimmers – but whatever the level, the language of the day is different. It’s a journey, not a race, and there’s room for everyone in the river.
