Top Floor Apartment

The High Street apartment is the top floor of an eighteenth century town building, situated in the Narrows, that formerly was a coaching Inn. The entrance is via Leechwell St. - just off the High St. and the apartment front door is reached via a shared staircase to the first floor, and then the apartment has its own front door, lower landing, and stairs to top floor. The stairs are steep, although not excessively, for this type of building, and character features such as a fire place and beams and sloping floors, have been preserved. It is said that the name "Narrows" goes back to the  Middle Ages, when it was the narrowest part of the main road from London to Cornwall, which then went through Totnes. The apartment has a small double bedroom, with four foot bed, usual storage space, a velux  window with blind, and sloping beams. Thus the apartment is ideal for a couple. It is possible to accommodate 2 single persons, by making the dinette into a single bedroom, with a Z bed, and the dinette folding dining table and chairs go into the snug.The kitchen has cooker, fridge, toaster, and microwave and is equipped. The snug has 2 seater settee, smart TV and free Wifi and storage space. The shower room is small, and has shower, loo, and wash basin. The apartment has 2 landings. The Narrows has many advantages : restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and wine bars are within a few minutes walk. There are Indian and Chinese takeaways, a Pizza house, and the ever popular Apple Lane "corner shop" that stocks more or less everything, including daily fresh croissant, is just round the corner. The newly revived Totnes cinema is also with easy reach, and so is the popular Friday and Saturday Totnes Market.
